Save the Law Courts Inn

The Law Courts Inn

HELP US SAVE THE LAW COURTS INN

Despite all our best efforts, we were unable to persuade our landlord, the BC Ministry of Citizens’ Services, to enter into any sort of a consultative process over their decision to close the Law Courts Inn and convert the space into offices for the Judiciary, before our lease expired on September 30, 2020.  However, we are still trying to persuade them to change their course,  so please check back, or contact the Society’s president, Adam Howden-Duke, for news of our progress.

When the courthouse complex was designed by Arthur Erickson it had, in its centre, a large space devoted to a restaurant overlooking an infinity pond. This space was always intended to be public. Tell the BC Government to keep this public space open to the public!

The Law Courts Inn is a viable going concern, even during these times of social distancing. The decision to repurpose the space for offices was made by the Ministry without any consultation with interested stakeholders.

The Lawyers Inn Society is ready to negotiate a new lease. Read the letter from our president outlining the situation for more information.
